Vision & Mission
SARTHI is working with an overall mission to develop self-reliant communities through a self-help approach – particularly for women. Our strategy includes implementing programs on improving economic status, natural resource development, soil and water conservation, holistic health and hygiene.
Ø Promote activities relating to the management of natural and human resources in rural communities. This is done mainly using strategies for optimal long-term use of land and water resources, higher levels of productivity through improved technology, and appropriate innovation and management techniques.
Ø Strengthen people’s institutions at the village level, enhance empowerment of local women, and facilitate self-reliance of the local communities through holistic health, economic empowerment and education.
Ø Encourage a process of collective self-empowerment whereby local people begin to develop the capacity to assert greater control over their developmental problems. The efforts are directed towards building the capacity of the stakeholders to take a more active and permanent role in the initiation, planning, implementation, operation, maintenance and evaluation of the programs.
As SARTHI started to expand geographically, the field centres were established as satellites away from the Head Office, since SARTHI’s philosophy is that to completely understand the local villagers and the area, the people working there also have to live there. In addition to its seven field centres, SARTHI also has four sub centres. The sub centres are affiliated registered centres, and they do their own coordination and monitoring. They work together with the SARTHI Head Office, but are separate and self-sufficient units.
